Eggs in the Real World

Some egg-related thoughts as we near Turkey Day. I'll be back home in Long Island NY, in my brand new kitchen cooking with my mom and family. The renovated kitchen really inspired the world of my cookbook, so it's going to be great to return back to a place of inspiration.

But I got this Turkey for the holiday that is NOT egg related but is enjoyable nonetheless. He's quite cute, and that's just as good as eggs. It's from Dipilicious Sweet Treats of RI, and I got him from my boss :)

The next bit is a new recipe with eggs I discovered because it's so pretty.......prettypretty Chinese tea eggs are my current, bubbling experiment that I hope to share good results of later on!

Now go an eat some eggs!

Incredible Eggs - The Beginning

Over the summer, I got a cookbook called "Totally Eggs". It's a bitty little book, filled with egg recipes that I've really enjoyed creating. Some recipes I knew, and the factoids throughout the book were quite exciting, but honestly, the layout just wasn't cutting it.

When it came time to pick a topic for my Independent Study, I decided to look at the subjects I enjoy the most. All in all, they are quite 'elemental' - I love still lives, houses, and people. I love painting florals and foods and I love creating characters. My paintings have a lot of narrative quality, but I wanted to create another level of character. And so, I chose eggs.

At the time I was picking my subject I was watching a lot of old school animations, some superheroic, and I remembered a phrase I had come up with this summer -
Super Powerful Protein Power.

All these elements created the Superhero eggs, fighting for nutrition justice. I did more research, immersed myself in 1950's and 60's illustrations (look for an inspiration post to follow), and thus created the egg characters.

I'll post more about the personality of the egg characters, but for now, enjoy these line and watercolor sketches!

The Incredible Eggs

The Incredible Eggs...it's got a superhero fun and punch to it, and I'm really excited with how far the cookbook has come since the early sketch phase!

Sketches will be coming next, but I thought, why not preview the cover?!

Sunny Side Up!

Hi there!

I am obsessed with eggs. Have been since I was a kid, eating them on Saturday mornings. They influence my paintings, illustrations, health, and happiness.

Here's a painting I did of eggs for color class. I'll be posting more pictures of my work, my recipes, and most importantly...

The Incredible Eggs - An egg-tastic story and recipes for kids!

Stay tuned, and eat your eggs!
